Fear and love

Since love and fear can hardly exist together, if we must choose between them, it is far safer to be feared than loved.

Though a pessimistic quote, I can very well imagine why the author wrote that. Unfortunately, the definition of "love" has changed in recent times, and that is the root cause of all evils.

I must agree that it is pessimistic; i understand where he might be coming from but the fear of being loved by itself makes the person incapable of loving someone. Life is all about the people around us and trying out something new; according to me, life without growth and without the loved ones is worse than death.
